In the Christian world we take for granted the idea that
Holy Week has always been observed since the day of Christ. However, it only
began to be celebrated in the 15th century and originated from the
walking of the Via Dolorosa, the path in Jerusalem traditionally believed to
have been taken by Jesus between His mock trial before Pilate and His crucifixion
on Golgotha. Today this week is the most sacred week of the year because
it brings to our close attention the fulfillment of Christ’s earthly ministry
and His supreme sacrifice for our salvation, culminating in His resurrection. This week brings together the three great virtues of Christianity
as brought out by St. Paul in I Corinthians 13: faith, hope and love.

Cookies, pastels, spring flowers, and God’s love
7 Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. Genesis 2:7 (NASB)

For the New Year I would like to go to the beginning, the
lesson of Genesis, and children. My older brother, his age prompting a visit,
put me in a place to fly out and visit.
I had not seen my family in California in many years. Amongst those
would be my niece and nephews and now their families. Flying out my nephew Robert and Jenn invited me to stay at
their home.

Someone well said, “There is never an excuse for being unkind.” Truth is, we attract far more flies with honey than we do with salt.
